Looking for FEMA Updates?

FEMA has a new resource for people interested in flood insurance and mitigation issues.

The pilot of an e-mail subscription management system, GovDelivery, has been launched through the FEMA website. The system transmits e-mail alerts specific to subscribers’ needs when important information is posted on the FEMA website.

Through these alerts, FEMA updates are delivered directly to the GovDelivery user’s computer, laptop, or wireless device. This system is a fast, effective way of keeping FEMA employees, partners, and the public informed about latest developments regarding FEMA programs.

Signing up is easy. Users simply click on the envelope icons posted throughout the FEMA website. No personal information is required, only an e-mail address to indicate where the alerts should be sent and the user’s ZIP Code and State. Subscribers select the topics of interest (such as FloodSmart, Best Practices, disaster and emergency declarations, national and local press releases, additions to the FEMA Photo Library, etc). Alerts are sent as soon as updates are posted on the FEMA website or can be grouped in daily, weekly, or monthly digests.

Since subscribers provide their ZIP Code and State, FEMA can send messages to all subscribers in a declared disaster area, providing them with updates on how to obtain assistance. Having this information available electronically may significantly improve communications with victims during a disaster.

Updates are provided for the following topic areas:

  • Emergency and Disaster Declarations
  • Employment Opportunities
  • Emergency Management Institute
  • Environmental and Historic Preservation
  • Regional Information
  • Information for Insurance Professionals and Lenders

Sign up for GovDelivery via the free e-mail subscription service to receive notifications when new information is available.
